Azure
Name Given at Birth: Elizabeth
Nicknames: Azure, though it became my true name when I was gifted it by the Madame.
Hometown or where you were born: My father's manor in Northumberland near the southernmost old Roman wall.
Current Residence: The Blarney Cock, Canterbury's own brothel.
Age: 27
Class: Though I was born into a family of landowners, I am now and ever shall be a simple whore.
What do you do, your main function in life/society: I work for the Notorious Madame Red, the town Madame.
Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: Most definitely.
Do you make fun of people: When one deserves it, or when one pays for it.
Favorite Color: Blue. It is the color of the high Heavens, my name, and my own eyes.
Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: In the eyes of my family and the Church, indeed.
Closest friends/How did you meet: The women of the Brothel. I met them almost immediately upon setting foot in Canterbury and they have welcomed me unfailingly.
One Pillow or two: My personal preference is for none. However, they are frequently asked for by my clients, and as my job is to please them, I can be comfortable with any number.
Pets: No, thank you.
Favorite Type of Music: The fiddle and religious music, particularly chants.
Hobbies/Pastimes: I am fortunate enough to love my job. However, when I am not actively courting or entertaining clients, I enjoy writing and contemplation. The great St. Thomas Aquinas said, "Contemplata aliis tradere." In order to surrender my contemplations to others in the world, I must take the time to have them, no? The saint does not need to know what I contemplate.
Personal Hygiene: I try to present as pristine a body as is possible. Simple cleanliness is of vast importance to our business.
Favorite Food: Finger foods are preferable, as they allow for continued work or entertainment.
Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: My parents are alive, to the best of my knowledge. I do not have any contact with them since I fell into my current life. I would not bring this burden to them, or shame them in any way. I loved my parents greatly when I knew them, and I hope that when they think of me they do so with hope, though pride is not possible.
If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: n/a
Favorite place to relax: I am most relaxed when sitting amongst my sisters in the shaded lanes of Canterbury, watching the patrons and hours go by.
Favorite Holy Day / Why: These days I am most partial to July 22nd, the feast of St. Mary Magdalene, as she was both a prostitute and a holy woman.
Favorite Drink: For drink I prefer a light honey mead, though hearty ale sometimes does the body better good
What's your bedtime: Just after coin has exchanged hands.
What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: I prefer soft boots, but when it is warm leather sandals will do.
Are you married or single: Most definitely not married. But I rarely find myself to be single.
Do you have a family / who are they: I am the youngest of three older brothers and three older sisters. They did their best to spoil me, taking me riding and giving me treats and helping me to slip away from the nurse who began teaching me to sew and embroider when I was five. I had at least four nieces and nephews, as my two oldest siblings were married for all my memory. My family owned dramatic land with a number of farmsteads under his control, in addition to his own flocks and fields. But as is surely no surprise being the youngest of seven, my father decided to send me to the Dominican convent two days' journey south, at Durham. At the convent, I was taught to read and write in both our English tongue and Latin, to contemplate the great mysteries set forth by the Fathers of our Church. My mind was sharp and my blood decent enough that I was on my way to a priory of my own. I gladly became a novitiate, and looked forward to ruling some small place as a prioress or even an abbess, if I was fortunate. So in many ways I have had three families in my life: my birth family, the Church, and now the Brothel.
Favorite Entertainment: Intelligent conversation.
Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Latin and theology.
Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Spinning wool. It was a traditional physical occupation for Dominican nuns, and I despised it.
Favorite Sport: Intellectual argument, of course. I appreciate a good swordfight, as do many of my sisters. And I do greatly enjoy the Human Combat Chess Match.
Most Humiliating Moment: When my first love, a young Blackfriar with whom I spent many hours studying more than the rules of our order, turned on me and cast me out as a whore.
Proudest Moment: I have moments of pride every day. Perhaps it is a vice.
Craziest Person or silliest you know: I must limit this to one? The silliest is without a doubt Mistress Vixen.
What do you look for in the opposite sex: Passion, brilliance, and a spiritual nature. Despite his betrayal, my Blackfriar shaped my tastes for all future men.
In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord": Madame Red, but I'll submit to anyone for the right price.
And how do you feel about that person: I love Madame most dearly.
Favorite Sport to watch: Sword fighting.
Do you remember your first kiss: I do. It was with that same Blackfriar, and it woke my soul to passion.
Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: Indeed not. As with my family, I would not shame them so.
Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: I have never been on vacation, alas, but I would most love to visit Rome at some juncture, and spend time in the great libraries of the Church.
Have you ever been overseas: No.
Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: The Blarney Cock has lovely and rich wooden floors.
What is your bed made of: A simple frame and mattress, with no adornment.
How many people sleep in your bed: Myself alone. I rarely sleep with company. We are much to busy doing other things.
