Renfest Apprentice 7/23

A few notes:

Please do NOT make a nuisance of yourself in a public group setting. Your behavior does affect the show and some of your fellow performers could be embarrassed to be around you afterwards. Plus it gets back to the audience and Jim asks the Area Managers to watch you closely. We can be boisterous and jolly but let’s not have others consider us to be foolish and reckless.

In upcoming academy classes, please be respectful of your leaders. Let them lead the class and no excessive talking or boredom faces. Do not roll your eyes and think that you are WAY above everyone else there because you aren’t. Remember : YOU get what you want out of these sessions and it WILL show in the lanes or your performance.

Scavenger Hunt will be Sunday, August 17th at the faire site. No dressing in costume-be comfortable!, bring sunscreen, water and a lunch or snacks. We’ll meet at 2, take a tour of the site and play for a couple of hours, break for a late picnic lunch and then if you want, play some more until about 6. The reason for the possible late start: chess match. I will find out more about our time schedule after the chess match rehearsals start.

Character to Character Interactions

~Make sure that you have an audience and that they are actual patrons.

~Do not waste your talent on air or just amuse yourself.

~Stand a good distance apart….six to eight feet to open yourself up to a crowd.

~Project your voice and be expressive … reverances work great here!

~Do not clump together…it seals up the effect and makes you look like your standing around doing nothing.

~Try not to block shops, bridges or perform in front of live stage shows.

~It’s built just like an interaction: Beginning , Middle and an End

~It lasts about a minute but can be carried on in different areas of the festival site.

~Great way to show how your character deals with others or feels about another character.

Character to Group Interactions

~Fun, Fun, Fun!

~Much like an interaction: Beginning, Middle and End

~Start with a reverence or nod of the head and a greeting (these people are golden to us!)

~Normally after you have introduced yourself and opened up the interaction….the group will most likely engage the conversation, turn shy or….select a victim to be the representative spokesperson.

~Watch the victim’s posture and facial expressions for clues on how to handle them!

~You can either tease them (POLITELY) or really showcase them up with language to make the situation less stressful. (Charlie at Feast Story)

~There’s a good chance that pictures happen during this time and this all depends upon your schtick.

~Wrap it up within 45 seconds and reverence your way out.

~There’s a good chance that you’ll see them later in the day and you can continue, wave or lift a glass at them.

Please remember to keep the interaction going! Do NOT stop with a "NO" answer!

How crazy is it that we are there to entertain and you shut the scene down with "Nay, I do not do that". Instead, keep the scene interesting with "Mayhap it looks as if ….but I prefer…." Or "Yes, And".
